Bangkok was once known as the ‘Venice of the East’ and for 200 Thai Baht (AU$10, £5), you can spend the whole day on the hop on, hop off tourist boat. The boat runs from 09:00am-18:00 every day and stops at many of the famous landmarks located up and down the river.
The boat stops at the 10 or so piers and you can get on and off as many times as you like.
It’s easy to get to places like ‘Chinatown’ and many of the Temples like Wat Arun are located beside the river, and easy to locate without a long walk in the Bangkok heat.
It’s a little more expensive than the ‘taxi’ boats but it is usually more comfortable, less crowded and provides a running commentary in several languages including English.
