We took a meter taxi from the station to our hotel. We were staying at Taraplace on Samsen Road, just near the famous Khao San Road. It was a lovely little hotel with excellent reviews and free 24 hour drinks and snacks. We were staying here 7 nights and were happy with our choice. It was near enough to the madness of Khao San Road and far enough not to hear it! We were too early to check in so arranged to store our luggage at the hotel. We had a Macca’s breakfast and several cups of coffee to stay awake after the overnight train.

We found a great little street food place to eat called Keaw (Madam Keaw), that did lovely vegetarian meals for 50 baht. (£1.25.)!

We could eat very cheaply locally but we also like to just buy cereal and milk etc when we’re in no rush to get out. A bunch of little ‘finger’ bananas cost £0.50p!
